African Bank Gold Credit Card

The Gold Card from African Bank doesn’t have a lot of frills, but it is definitely a sound starter card. It does come with 60 days of interest-free credit and no minimum income requirements. There is a monthly fee of R69.

The card comes with a 23% interest rate and a max credit interest of 3%. Other than that, there is an R3.70 +1.1% on cash deposits after the one free one.

Virgin Money Credit Card

If you’re looking for a good credit card that is easy to get approval for, then the Virgin Money Credit Card might be a suitable choice. The card has a reasonable minimum income and requires good credit.

As an introductory offer, the card comes with a 0% APR for the first year. Then when the introductory period is up, the APR returns to the standard. This typically falls between 18.99% and 20.99%.

Standard Bank Blue Credit Card

Standard Bank’s Blue Credit Card has a minimum income requirement of R5000+ per month and charges an R40 monthly fee. It is a bare-bones card but is capable of building your credit easily.

The card has a customized APR. This will be determined by both the applicant’s credit and income. It is also going to cost the individual who gets approved an initiation fee of R180.

Nedbank Classic Credit Card

The Nedbank Classic Credit Card requires a low monthly income and a card initiation fee of R135. That is what makes it a great starter card that is easy to get approved for. It does not have many benefits except for automatic travel insurance when you use this card to purchase tickets.

Along with the travel insurance, you can earn reward points if you join the Greenbacks program, which costs R204 to join. The card itself comes with an interest rate of 19.9% on both purchases and cash advances. It also has an 11.9% rate in balance transfers for the first year.

Capitec Bank Credit Card

Once you have applied and approved the Capitec Credit Card, you will be able to take advantage of the benefits. The card offers travel insurance as well as card protection. 

This card has a low minimum income requirement and a 55-day interest-free period. The interest rate for the card will fall between 14.5% and 20.5% dependent on the applicant’s credit. As for fees, the card has a flat R35 monthly fee and a cash withdrawal fee of R6.
